![]() Nexuiz : It doesn't work because the game is trying to connect to a server, the server doesn't exist anymore, so there's an endless loop on the main menu, the game freezes, no button works, Ctrl + Alt + Del to close the game (and sometimes this also doesn't work). If you buy this game, 3 games will be added on your steam library : I would have recommended this game 4 years ago, it was great. I've spent hundreds of hours in Xonotic and don't regret a minute of it. It doesn't have the Cryengine graphics that this game has, but it does keep true to what made the original Nexuiz game great. Better online play, better engine for fast gameplay, better weapons, more content, and the list goes on. Xonotic is just a better game for so many reason. Even if it had ongoing support I still wouldn't recommend it just because you can get Xonotic for free. People just kind of wrote it off as a lost cause. It was a flop to begin with, but when THQ went under, this game disappeared for years. Many of the players were unhappy and went over to play Xonotic after that. Since people in the community helped develop Nexuiz, and since the Nexuiz name then became the property of THQ, people dropped it and made a new game based on Nexuiz gameplay called Xonotic. The guy who made the original game engine sold the Nexuiz name without asking the community. This game also split up the original community because of the drama caused by the whole thing. It's crazy how much they managed to change the game for the worse. The netcode is just bad, so the online play isn't worth your time. They came up with a weird mutator power up system that should have just been a special game mode, and then made that a core game mechanic. They used an engine that can't handle the type of fast-paced gameplay that Nexuiz was known for. Gameplay Videos Nexuiz 2.They took an arena FPS that was slightly popular on PC, bought the rights to the name, and then proceeded to strip away everything that made the original game great and create.well this. This includes all new GUI graphics elements, as well as reflective water and improved particles. On February 29, 2008, nearly three years after the initial release, version 2.4 was released and brought major improvements to both the GUI and the graphics engine. Development continued after the initial release, with 1.1 released soon after, 1.5 released February 14, 2006, 2.0 released Jand 2.1 September 9, 2006. After four years of development with no budget, Nexuiz 1.0 was released on May 31, 2005, completely under the GNU GPL, and by the end of June had over a quarter million downloads. The original design called for a simple deathmatch project with a few levels and one character model to be released the next summer. ![]() Soon afterward the project moved to the DarkPlaces Quake engine created by Forest Hale, who later also joined the project. Nexuiz development started as a Quake modification in the summer of 2001 by Lee Vermeulen. Currently there are a few custom mods and maps used. Nexuiz supports most Quake modifications (although with varying functionality). It can also support new gametypes, or whole conversions quickly applied to it (much like Quake). Nexuiz is primarily multiplayer (though it includes a full single-player campaign, which allows one to play through the various multiplayer game types and maps with bots), and allows for hosting and joining of games. All these effects can be turned off to make the game run on older hardware. The graphics in Nexuiz use coronas, the bloom shader effect, Realtime World and Dynamic Lighting and shadowing, shaders (with OpenGL 2.0), offset mapping, and High dynamic range rendering. Nexuiz is a first-person shooter with nine weapons, 24 official maps and over 240 community created maps, as well as 15 player models.
